Let me explain. My mother is Savannah Plumb Cheesman, famed adventurer and best selling author of paranormal literature. She wrote her first book when she was about my age, an autobiographical novel called "Interview with a Mummy." My maternal grandmother is Shandra Bellingham Plumb, an ambrosial savant who, before becoming the first female conductor of the Sunset Valley orchestra, also dabbled in writing. And my paternal great-aunt, my grandfather's sister, was Margaret (Meg) Plumb, best selling science-fiction novelist who did most of her work in Sunset Valley. She died when my mother was a teenager.
I'm named after her -- Sage Margaret. I had no choice but to write.
My maternal grandfather is Nathan Jolina-Plumb, hit movie composer and Sunset Valley's most famous and infamous musician. The old timers in the Valley still tell tales of his prodigious talent. He composed music before he started school. He even performed for the Reaper himself.
My mother did a couple lectures at Sims University and then was offered a professorship. Needless to say, she took the job. With it she can pretty much do whatever she wants -- tomb raid, write books, and she gets a campus house to stay in while she teaches. She does a public lecture once a week. I can't say I'm comfortable with that. I'm not taking any of her courses but the fact that she's on campus on a daily basis makes me uneasy.
My father is a former soccer player, Andrew Cheesman Sr. He did something that professional athletes rarely do -- leave the game at the peak of his career to help raise his children. Granted, he wasn't a superstar player, he came off the bench, but still, what he did was a rare thing. And my siblings and I are grateful for it, especially since my mother was working or traveling most of the time.
My family is pretty unusual, as families go. I have two older siblings who mom adopted from Egypt before I was born. Mom whooped and hollered, but she couldn't stop my sister Satis from going back to Egypt. Actually, Satis is now in medical school here, but that's another story for another time.
My older brothers, AJ and Imsety, were sent to Fort Starch Military Academy just before I turned teen, and for a long time I wasn't sure why. While they were gone I missed them like mad, though. I have two more younger sisters, Sierra, who is basically a pain, and little Skylar. People thought Sierra and I were twins because we have the same blond hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. But we are absolutely nothing alike. More on that later, too.
Unlike Sierra and me, Skylar is a brown-eyed brunette. She likes to sing and dance and basically be girly. In fact, sometimes I think she's watched one too many Madison Avenue videos. More on that later.
I also have a baby brother called Sawyer. Sometimes I think the poor little guy gets lost in the shuffle.
