Mom is back on campus, which means she's back to making the rest of us look utterly clueless. Seriously. She's the smartest person I know, and knows so much about so many things. Of course, it helps to have had the career she's had. She was an archaeologist, a ghost hunter, and the archivist at Moonlight Falls' Vault. I'm in awe of her.
I've spent most of my life trying to not be like her... only to realize that in some ways, yes I am like her... and that's actually NOT a bad thing.
Brenda Kemp from the school newspaper was present at one of Mom's lectures. There's at least one staff member at every lecture she does lately, and they worship the air they breathe. Sometimes I think she eats up the attention.
I came downstairs after checking up on Sierra's bedroom (which was decent, surprisingly)...
...only to find her downstairs playing chess on one of the university laptops. Chess!!! It surprised me a little, but then, nothing Sierra does surprises me anymore.
It didn't take long, though, to figure out why she was practicing chess on the computer.
She'd entered herself in the school chess tournament!
Now, I knew my sister played chess, and I knew mom had taught us all how to play on the computer, but I never realized she liked it. She says she likes chess because it calms her down and focuses her.
By the time I'd gotten there to cheer her on, she'd won two matches and was in the finals against the defending champion, Kyle's ex-roommate Richard Randall....
...and she won. She won!!!!! Although, when she won, it was like she knew she was going to win. She wasn't even excited about it.
Yes. Yes, my sister is Sims University's chess champion.
I've been telling you guys... my sister is ridiculously smart. I don't think she knows how smart she is yet.
She's in college a year and a half early and was taking college-level courses in high school.
She took high school math in junior high.
