Well, we all got moved into Henry Hall Dorm for the semester. Henry, I'm told, is one of the nicer dorms on campus and where they tend to place the honors students and scholarship recipients. It's a university requirement that all incoming students spend at least one term in the dorms (though somehow the Vanderburg twins got that waived, lol).
I heard horror stories about roommates, but it seems like we got a decent group. AJ was cracking jokes left and right about professors cooking up lesson plans, and even got a shot in at Mom, who is, as you know, teaching at Simwarts Academy.
Clockwise, between AJ and me, is Ann Connors. She's in my art class and plays music a lot. Next to me is Ashley Corono, the super-popular cheerleader type and sorority girl. Next to Kayleigh is Holly Gabrielsun and next to Holly is Kaz Nasri.
Ann is ALWAYS playing music, even when Kay and I are trying to sleep, lol.
Through the quirk that Kaz was the only other male in the dorm, AJ got the biggest, best room in there, lol.
At noon we hopped on bikes (!) and headed to the student union for the meet n greet. Never mind that I haven't ridden a bike since I was small, lol. Kay even quipped that she was used to riding horses, not bikes.
"Last one into the student union is a rotten egg!" AJ quipped as I struggled to keep up with him. I'm glad that I'm slowly, surely, getting my brother back -- the one I used to know before he went away to Fort Starch.
When we got there, we watched a presentation by Sophie Mander, a third-year student in the technology department. She's a SIT (Sims Institute of Technology) student, in the same school that AJ will be enrolling in. I found out he's chosen to major in information technology -- something to do with computers, I think.
With the mascot guy looking over my shoulder, I copied down some things that she'd said. She talked about the core courses that are expected of incoming students, basic writing and speaking skills, along with an elementary understanding of cooking and handiness.
"What are the requirements for physical education majors, for Sims who are, say, going into ranching and competitive horse riding?"
"For you, I'd suggest some business courses if indeed you are going into ranching. Perhaps a business minor? I'd look into that."
Later that evening we went to a party, hosted by a couple of frat brothers. But the only thing AJ saw at that party was Ashley. Ugh.
Poor guy, he was trying so hard to impress her. He kept trying to crack jokes with her and basically pretty much never left her side the entire evening.
That is, unless he was running around stark-raving naked, lol. And as far as I know, he hadn't even had anything to drink.
He even tried to kiss her on a dare...
But that didn't go well -- at all. She slapped him in the face.
"I'm sorry, Ash -- maybe I should have asked --"
Honestly I don't understand what he sees in her.
Speaking of Ashley...

There's something about this girl that is just not sitting well with me. I can't put my finger on it.

Sure, she seems like she's sweet and all, and she went out of her way to talk to Kay and me in the dorms.

She and Kay even played frisbee behind the dorms.

I don't know if it's her white-blond hair or the fact that she wears enough makeup to last my uncle's ex-wife a year, or the fact that she's in the sorority, Tri-Fruhm...
Maybe it's that my brother is all over her like gravy on rice.

All I know is he's got this massive crush on her and won't leave her side. She makes me really uncomfortable in a lot of ways.

To get my mind off of this Ashley situation with my brother, I decided to go to the bowling alley between classes. I'd never been there, but I decided to go and give it a shot. Needless to say, I'm not very good at it.
Just then a girl with short hair, wearing a university hoodie, walked up to me. "Sage, is it?"
I shook my head. "Uh, yeah." How did she know my name?
"AJ's sister. He has talked so much about you."
Really?
"He's talked about all his sisters, but you the most. Every other word that's come out of his mouth is about you, and now I finally meet you."
"Who are you?"
"I'm Alex. Vanderburg. I'm AJ's friend. We work together." She smiled and extended her hand. Goodness, she has a firm handshake. It's a death grip, almost.
Ah, so this is Princess Alexandra, the famous Alex of all the rumors. She wasn't as tall as I expected, especially from the TV. Maybe she was wearing heels??? Or was it her hair? Either way it was shorter than I remember.
"So, you just started school here?"
"Yeah, um, I arrived yesterday."
Alex told me she was in her second semester and majoring in astrophysics and aerospace engineering, studying to become an astronaut. She seemed to be taking a lot of advanced level classes.
"I tried to talk AJ into coming to school here."
I smiled. "Looks like it worked. He's here." Of course, I didn't tell her that mom basically dragged him here by his hair. "What are you majoring in?"
"Fine arts," I replied.
"Same as my sister," she said excitedly, "you should meet her. Have you met her yet?"
"No," I said, but I suspect I'll be seeing a lot of her, anyway.
