December 16

Hiya, Disco Sage here... sorry I haven't written much lately. Been so busy and got a lot to tell you.

First off, we're back home for winter break. And it couldn't have happened at a better time, really. Especially with all the drama. Sierra's back to bragging about her latest brush with the law -- and now she's got my nine year old baby sister talking about running from the police. Sigh.

And what the heck has gotten into Mom? She was cooking... Mom doesn't cook. At all. And she was singing her little Egyptian ditty, in Arabic. I knew this only meant one thing. Something is bothering her.

Meanwhile I fixed myself a tofu dog while I listened to them chatter.

Kay went back to Appaloosa Plains with her family for the holiday. I was actually going to suggest that myself, but she decided to go on her own. She needs the break more than any of us actually -- bar my brother. She and AJ, I hate to say it, really do need time apart. They're toxic. That's really something to say about two people I care about greatly, but the two of them together are just much too combustible.

Kay's family bought a new 6-bedroom farmhouse, a tractor, and a huge horse ranch, and she's been spending most of her time at the farm with her horses where she's most comfortable. She's even talking about entering another horse competition.
As for me, we're gathering our things in Hidden Springs to take back home to the Valley, where we're going to spend the holiday. I can't wait to see everyone. Especially Cousin Neil, I adore him.

Read in the papers here in HS that Princess Alexandra secretly got married during her space training mission in Oasis Landing. Good for her, although I can't see she did it for any other reason than the Queen practically begging her to. Speaking of the Queen, I've heard that she's now in frail health. She's been taking medicinal treatments from the spring but they haven't worked. Prince Sebastian has already been doing most of the heavy lifting for some time now and the gossips are saying he might officially be crowned king sooner rather than later. The other big rumor in HS is that Princess Anastasia's husband is begging her to give him a child, but that's for another time...

Speaking of heavy lifting, Sierra went to her prom. I'm surprised she was allowed to go, given the situation with her military school placement. But she went. She put on her typical tuxedo-type thing and gelled her hair back short.
Apparently she managed to convince the entire class to vote her queen, she won! She said when she did it she was kind of joking around, and she didn't expect to win. She said that just proves what a big joke the whole thing is.
"After I won prom queen I saw this geeky boy Ethan trying to dance and not being very good at it," she said, "it was laughable."
Then, she continued talking to me about her prom. "So I spent most of the night with this girl Lily, remember the one I was telling you about?"
"Vaguely," I told her.
"I spent the entire night with her."
"Really?" I asked.
"She started getting me lots of punch and then we started dancing, and one thing led to another --"
"Did you kiss her?"
"I wanted to --"
"Sierra, are you telling me --"
"Yeah, I think so."
I really don't know what to think of this development. I can't say I'm surprised by the fact that my sister is dating another girl. Sierra is Sierra, she's going to do what she wants regardless. I can't tell if this is a phase or an experiment or if she's actually attracted to girls. Whatever it is, I'm going to love her no matter what -- even though she is a pain a lot of the time.
